Lent Day 36

Good morning!

Our Scripture reading for today is Luke 10:1-12.

There are very few times in life when we truly feel ready for the next leg of our journeys through faith and life. Yes, we may have trained and prepared, sometimes for years, but when the day comes there is an anxious excitement and maybe even a small question of our own worthiness. Am I really ready for this? Would it be easier to stay where I am and keep doing the same old things?

Jesus appointed 72 disciples and sent them and advised them they were to take nothing but the clothes on their backs and the sandals on their feet. Jesus sent them without years of preparation, teaching, or even a clue that they would be sent in such a task. And yet, Jesus knew the time was right and they were ready.

We will always have more to learn and experience in the ways of Jesus. He will always equip you with what you need for the ways he calls you.

How has Jesus called you? Where is he sending you? Are you ready?

When I was called and sent to Emmanuel, I had been in the ordination process for 8 years! I was finally being ordained and was ready to dig into the trenches of Cicero and be able to fully invest without the added stresses of ordination projects, visits, paperwork, and interviews. But, Jesus had other plans and the next leg of the journey started much sooner than I could have imagined! Trusting and leaning into that calling has been a blessing in my journey.

Blessings,

Pastor Jesse
