Parent Information

  • Dear Parents,

At Emmanuel Learning Academy, the safety and well-being of your children are our top priorities. In Indiana, teachers and other professionals who work with children are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect. This means they are legally required to report any suspicions of abuse to the appropriate authorities. If a child shares something that concerns us and a teacher suspects abuse at home, they are required to report it directly to the authorities, not to the parents. This ensures that the matter is handled by professionals trained to investigate and take appropriate action to protect the child. This is NOT a personal attack on anyone; it is our duty to make sure no child is being harmed. Here are the key points regarding the laws in Indiana:

    1. Mandated Reporting- Teachers must report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect directly to the Director or Lead Pastor. This includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect.

    2. Reporting Process: Reports should be made immediately to the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) or to law enforcement by the Director or Lead Pastor. The DCS hotline is 1-800-800-5556 and is available 24/7.

    3. Contents of the Report: When making a report, the teacher should provide as much information as possible, including the child's name, age, address, and details of the suspected abuse or neglect.

    4. Legal Protections: Teachers and other mandated reporters are granted immunity from civil or criminal liability for reports made in good faith.

    Thank you for your understanding,

    Emmanuel Learning Academy

  • Morning Drop Off Map Link

Drop-off Time: 9:00 to 9:10 AM. Greenfield Avenue is the designated entrance for all cars. We know how excited the kids are to start their day and to make drop-off smooth and safe, please have your child ready to hop out by unbuckling their seat belts and having their backpacks ready. Please wait for one of our ELA staff to come to your car to help your child exit safely. DO NOT LET CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT A STAFF MEMBER. Students should exit via the driver’s side of the vehicle. (Please turn right onto Cumberland Road to prevent a backup while exiting the parking lot.)

    Morning Drop-off Location:
Pull up past the covered entrance to door 8 (kitchen) along the backside of EUMC. At the top of the incline, waiting cars will form 2 lines and will alternate pulling up to the drop off zone. These lines will stretch along the North Facing side of the parking lot (facing the shelter house) to the East side of the parking lot(basketball goal). We will have several staff prepared to help your child out of the car. Pastor Jesse and Pastor Joshua take an active role in the preschool and you will see them out there each morning helping kids out of cars and giving high-fives.

  • Afternoon Pick Up Map Link

Pick up time: 1:00 PM. Families need to park in the upper parking lot and walk down to enter the building through #7 double doors. Should you have a special circumstance such as an injury or have an infant in the vehicle please contact Annette Brown, kids@emmanuelumc.org to make short term arrangements. Door #7 will open at 12:55 PM for families to enter into the gym. We are opening doors 5 minutes before school ends in the hopes that families will use this opportunity to make connections among the other preschool families. Preschool hallway doors will open at 1:00pm where you will walk down to pick up your child.

It is crucial that once you exit the building, you hold your child’s hand and walk them directly to your vehicle. Exit the parking lot either by Greenfield Avenue or Cumberland Road. Cones will be placed along the top of the incline blocking off passage behind the church. This will prevent vehicles from crossing the paths of the families walking to their cars. Vehicles are prohibited from driving behind the church and through the preschool.
