Pre-K Plus is tailored for children who either miss the age cutoff for kindergarten, turn 5 after May 1st (summer baby) or would benefit from an additional year in a nurturing, smaller classroom setting. This program mirrors many aspects of our Pre-K curriculum but places a stronger emphasis on individualized attention to ensure mastery of fundamental skills.
-Personalized Instruction: With a lower student-to-teacher ratio, educators provide one-on-one support, focusing on each child’s unique learning needs and pacing.
-Academic Foundations: Emphasis is placed on developing early literacy and numeracy skills including:
Reading:Recognizing sight words, understanding basic sentence structures, and fostering a love for reading
Writing: Practicing letter formation, spelling simple words, and beginning to write short sentences.
Mathematics: Understanding number concepts, basic addition and subtraction, and recognizing patterns.
-Social and Emotional Development: Activities are designed to enhance self-regulation, build confidence, and promote positive interactions with peers.
-Structured Learning Environment: Children are introduced to classroom routines and behaviors expected in kindergarten, such as
Listening attentively during group activities.
Following multi-step instructions.
Engaging in cooperative play and collaborative projects.
-Thematic and Hands-On Learning: The curriculum incorporates thematic units that integrate subjects like science, art, and music, providing a holistic educational experience. Hands-on activities, including the use of STEM toys, encourage exploration and critical thinking.
