Lent Day 30

Good Morning!

Today, we are reading John 14:27 and Isaiah 26:1-6.

The blessings of peace see our topic for today. Horatio Spafford is our example. Horatio composed "It is Well with My Soul" at an extremely difficult time in his life, yet shared what God's peace meant in his life.

We are offered peace from above because we know and have a Savior in Jesus. While that peace flows as a gift from Jesus, we also have the opportunity to share with and receive from others! We are always called to share the gifts of God with our neighbors!

Today, we are asked to list and reflect on some of the people in our lives that we can share the peace of Jesus with today.

"It is Well with My Soul" is one of my favorite hymns and has special meaning to me.  One of my mentors, Pastor Ted, was diagnosed with ALS. He was forced to retire abruptly, his life in ministry was over, and he quickly deteriorated in health. He was unable to move or speak within months of his diagnosis, yet he insisted that it was well with his soul. He had them hang a sign above his bed that said so! When he passed and people gathered for his funeral, close to, if not more than, 1000 people showed up to recognize his impact in their lives and honor him. This hymn was sang by everyone in attendance. It was amazing and moving and something beyond words. The peace that Pastor Ted emanated and shared, even in his passing could only have been a gift from God that he lovingly shared with thousands of people in his 40+ years of ministry.

Blessings,

Pastor Jesse
