Wheeler Mission Ministries: A partnership with Emmanuel UMC & the Noblesville Community

Wheeler Mission Ministries Mission: To provide Christ-centered programs and services for the homeless and those in need.
Vision: To see every man, woman, and child we serve equipped to be productive citizens who enjoy lasting success in Christ.
Since 2014, Emmanuel UMC has partnered with Wheeler Mission Ministries (WMM) providing space for a donation barn on our property for the purpose of receiving donations that are collected for WMM and distributed to those in need as a result of homelessness. After those needs are met, items that are not claimed are taken to the Thrift Store, where all monies received are invested back into WMM’s programs. There are several donation barns located north and northeast of Marion County/Indianapolis, as well as others on the northwest side and Brownsburg area. WMM volunteers provide all the maintenance, upkeep, painting and repairs for the barns. One full-time driver and one part-time driver work a rotating schedule, typically picking up donations from the barns and from homes once or twice a week. Over the past year, donations have been at an all-time high and, on occasion, they have only been able to pick up donations once a week.
Wheeler Mission has the only non-government funded homeless facilities in the Indianapolis area that are faith-based. There are currently seven total shelters in Indianapolis (4) and Bloomington (3). The shelters provide programming for both men’s and women’s emergency housing and addictions recovery. This winter, Wheeler has lifted many of their rules, taking a “come, stay as long as you need” approach with individuals. They are providing housing for about 1100 persons weekly at this time. In order to follow the safety guidelines during the COVID pandemic, they have partnered with several hotels to provide housing and provide the same services that they offer to their shelter guests.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?  Donation barns can only accept clothing and small household goods, clean and in good condition. No food, furniture, or appliances should be left at the donation barn, but donations should never be left outside the barns.
Our barn is open 24-hours a day and is located on the east end of the church parking lot. If you would like to get MORE involved, you can find additional information at https://wheelermission.org/ways-to-give/more-ways-to-help/.
